Winter Wedding Makeup At The Mill Barns

Christmas is such a special time to get married and Charlotte and Simon’s wedding was my first winter wedding. As Christmas is my favourite time of the year, I was particularly excited about this one. I used rose-gold pigments, with a brown smoky eye and reddish tones for this wonderful winter wedding makeup look.

The Wedding Venue

Charlotte and Simon chose The Mill Barns for their wedding venue. The Mill Barns is a modern barn beautifully set on a waterfront near Bridgnorth in Shropshire. The venue was decorated to match the winter theme with twinkly lights and a grand entrance that framed the most perfect Christmas tree. I’m sure everyone was in the Christmas spirit!

The venue featured amazing neon signs by Rebel and Rose with the names of the newlyweds, candles throughout the barns created a cosy atmosphere, and sparklers set the tone for a bit of fun in the evening.

The Wedding Flowers

The team from Rebel and Rose did a great job with the flowers. I love the delicate leaves and soft green tones of Eucalyptus and this paired perfectly with white and red roses to create a stunning bouquet for Charlotte. The bridesmaid’s bouquets complimented the bridal bouquet with a softer and subtle look only using greenery.

Winter Wedding Makeup

It was an early start as I had Charlotte, 4 Bridesmaids and Charlotte’s mother all having their makeup done. There was excitement from the moment I arrived and a lovely atmosphere all morning. Champagne corks were popping, and bubbles were in full flow to celebrate the day and calm those nervous pre-wedding butterflies. The wedding morning is one of my favourite parts of my job! It is so rewarding being involved and trusted for such an important part of your wedding day.

One of the reasons why I love winter is because you can never have enough sparkle. That goes for makeup too. Winter wedding makeup can be more dramatic, and you can totally rock a bolder lip. For Charlotte’s wedding makeup, I chose to use rose gold tones as there were elements of rose gold throughout her wedding décor.

Charlotte enjoys wearing makeup and wanted a soft glam look for her wedding. I used warm brown tones with a reddish undertone to bring out the stunning green in Charlotte’s eyes.

I also used a rose-gold pigment by Peaches and Cream called Luxe to apply to the lid. This pigment has very fine glitter running through it. It twinkled perfectly in the light and kept the focus on Charlotte’s eyes which is exactly what she wanted from her makeup look.

The lips were kept natural using a flesh tone lipstick from MAC Cosmetics called Honey Love. I completed the look with polished skin and subtle contouring. I always spend time prepping the skin first and this is a nice relaxing moment spent with the bride giving them a bit of a pampering.

The Wedding Hair

Charlotte chose the lovely Holly Daybell as her bridal hair stylist who created the perfect up-do to compliment the makeup and wedding dress. I love the moment when the bride gets into her wedding dress and you get to see their dream look come together after months of planning.

The Wedding Dress

Charlotte’s wedding dress was by the designer Made with Love Bridal which she got from Coco and Kate Boutique in Hatton. She looked beautiful and it was a very emotional moment when her dad saw her for the first time before she walked down the aisle.
