Relaxed Rustic Wedding at Blakelands Country House

Laura & Taylor Rottreau

Fairy lights and candles decorated this intimate rustic barn wedding. A relaxed atmosphere filled with loved ones was the vision for Laura and Taylor’s day. Chic touches of flowers, hessian and blush enhanced the natural interior of the barn. Whereas lanterns, tea lights and bunting brought the venue to life. I created a timeless and classic makeup style to suite Laura’s day perfectly.

The Wedding Venue

Laura and Taylor fell in love with the charm of The Blakelands Country House. The brick walls and beams in the Maltings Barn were perfect for the couples wedding theme and didn’t need much decoration. The venue is a family run business which stood out for Laura and Taylor. They didn’t want anything too formal and wanted to be able to relax and celebrate with their family and friends.

The courtyard garden was the perfect setting for guests to unwind and have a few drinks. Festoon lights in the evening created a stunning backdrop for the wedding photos.

The Wedding Dress

Laura took the spotlight in an elegant mermaid silhouette by Pronovias which she got from Silk Brides in Lichfield. I loved the understated fabric of the wedding dress. It had the perfect combination of simplicity, elegance and sophistication. The material hugged Laura’s body perfectly and framed her hourglass shape.

The Wedding Makeup

It was a lovely morning getting Laura, her mum and 4 bridesmaids ready in the bridal loft at the venue. Laughs and tears are what made Laura’s wedding morning so special. There was a beautiful and emotional moment between Laura and her mum before she walked down the aisle.

As Laura’s wedding was an intimate celebration with her nearest and dearest, the makeup had to be tearproof. Plenty of waterproof mascara was a must! Laura wanted a winged eyeliner as a key feature in her wedding makeup. A small feline flick can elongate the eye and create a more desired and feminine shape. I also placed individual lashes from long to short to help enhance the look.

Rose hues on the cheeks and lips softened the makeup and complimented Laura’s skin tone. I used a neutral pink rather than anything too bright, this is a great way of adding colour without it becoming overpowering.

Urban Decay Setting spray is the final touch to any bridal makeup. This will help keep your makeup firmly in place all day without fading.

The Wedding Flowers

The Flower Shop in Leamington Spa put together a classic wedding bouquet consisting of blush and cream tones with some greenery. Pink roses ooze romance and they were entwined with delicate

eucalyptus and gypsophila. It was a timeless arrangement and works for any season. The soft pink added a feminine touch and paired with white gave a crisp look.

Little bursts of pink berries were a unique element and added a different texture. The same combinations were found in the table centrepieces

"Emily did my makeup for our engagement party and as soon as we booked our wedding I knew had to secure Emily ASAP.
