It was a lovely Spring day and the sun was shining. A dream day for a wedding, especially as we had a lot of snow the week before. Blues, greys and whites made the colour palette for Bryony and Craig’s bohemian inspired wedding. To complement the wedding colours, peachy neutrals were used in this boho wedding makeup look on the non-traditional bride.
The Wedding Venue
There’s something special about a Spring wedding that makes you feel happy. After the dark Winter days, there’s finally a colour in the air. Bryony and Craig thought so too, which is why they chose Shustoke Barns as their venue to get married. Shustoke Barn is an 18th century red brick barn in Warwickshire. The venue is surrounded by gorgeous courtyard gardens that were blooming with springtime flowers.
The Wedding Dress
Bryony’s wedding had a relaxed but charming and elegant boho feel. The romantic-style wedding dress was by the designer Divine Atelier from Serendipity Brides and went perfectly with the ethereal theme. The dress had a blush underlay which made it unique and personal to Bryony. The delicate floral lace pattern worked with the rustic theme of the wedding.
Boho Wedding Makeup
It was a very busy morning as Bryony had a large bridal party, there was 8 bridesmaids as well as her Mum all booked in for makeup on the day. They all got ready at the nearby Lea Marston Hotel where they stayed the night before. Everyone was excited to get their bridal makeup done and I had so much fun doing it. I soon felt a part of the bridal party. Before heading off to the ceremony, there was time for a few cheeky shots of tequila which is Bryony’s favourite.
At Bryony’s bridal makeup trial, she thought she wanted something quite traditional and natural. It was soon apparent that this didn’t reflect Bryony’s personality. On the wedding day, we went for a glam bridal look that felt more like her. I used Too Faced Sweet Peach palette, which has gorgeoue springtime colours and looked stunning on Bryony.

Spring makeup tends to be fresh and rosy. As Bryony loves a good coverage foundation but has beautiful freckles, I used Nars Sheer Glow foundation to achieve that flawless finish without it looking heavy. You could still see a few of Bryony’s beautiful freckles peeking through. I finished the boho makeup look with Bryony’s signature lipstick – MAC’S Velvet Teddy.
I used the same tones on the bridesmaids but used a pink neutral lip to soften the look. It is important to choose the right colour scheme for yours and your bridesmaids’ makeup. I choose colours that are going to work well on everyone but also work with the couple’s vision and wedding theme.
The Wedding Flowers
The rustic flowers were created by Hannah from Bloom Fleuriste in Lichfield. Bryony’s bouquet had lots of greenery paired with blue and white wildflowers. The bridesmaid’s bouquets were miniature versions of this.
Shustoke Barn was filled with fragrant flowers, suspended wreaths, table runners, and petals also lined the aisle and vases filled with blooms. It brought the outside in.
A non-traditional wedding cake was adorned with flowers and succulents. Bryony and Craig chose to have a cheese wedding cake rather than a sweet cake as the couple didn’t have a much of sweet tooth. The wedding cake was from The Cheese Shed where they could pick each layer.
The Wedding Hair
Juliet Johnson did a great job with the hair, Bryony had a loose and effortless style. Instead of a vail, Bloom Fleuriste made a flower comb to slide into her waterfall and fishtail braid.
I love getting a glimpse into my couples wedding days and Story + Colour captured the day perfectly.
"I was so happy with my makeup for my wedding day, and she made my bridesmaids look perfect as well! Emily listened to each of us on what we wanted/liked, as well as suggesting what tones and colours would suit each of us. I will definitely be using Emily again for special occasion makeup and would recommend her to anyone! – Bryony Spence-Williams"
