Bridal Makeup Tips for a Perfect Wedding

Bridal Makeup Tips

Hey, welcome back to my blog on the latest tips, trends, how-to’s, product reviews and more!

In today’s article, I’m going to give you my top 5 bridal makeup tips. So, sit back, get comfortable and get thinking about how you can achieve your perfect bridal makeup look.

5 Tips for Perfect Bridal Makeup!

First, we are going to start with the most important part of your bridal makeup journey – booking your makeup trial. Next, we will look into tanning for your big day. Then, we will look at how to find your makeup artist. Up next will be the top places for finding your makeup inspiration. And, finally my thoughts on lashes.

  • Always, always, always book your trial make-up in early to avoid any disappointments.
  • Apply your tan a few days before your wedding and let your make-up artist know.
  • Research your artist, ask friends and family, and browse reviews and galleries.
  • Get online for inspiration and let your make-up artist know your dream look.
  • Wear lashes on your wedding day to enhance your eyes.

Get Your Makeup Trial Booked Early

I always recommend booking a trial first up to 6-8 months before your wedding.

After the dress, makeup is one of the most important things on your wedding day and you want to get it right! You should book your trial up to 6-8 months before your big day. As a result, you can discuss exactly how you want to look on your big day.

Your trial is a perfect opportunity to test out different looks. So, you may want to book in a few trials.

Pro Tip: book your trial on special occasions so you can test out the makeup all day and night. And, you get to celebrate in style!

Your trial is a good way of making sure that you don’t have any reactions to the products. And, you may need to get used to wearing lashes if you haven’t worn them before.

I always like to discuss skincare with my clients at the trial. I want to get your skin looking its very best which will help when applying the makeup. This is why I suggest having your trial a good few months before the day. Because good skin care takes time; to really see the benefits.

You should avoid using completely new products a few weeks prior to your special day because your skin needs time to adjust. If you have any allergies it may need time to recover.

Apply Your Tan Early and Tell Your Makeup Artist

Always tell your makeup artist your plans for tanning on your wedding. She will be able to adjust the makeup to suit your skin tone.

Also, make sure you tan a few days before your wedding.

Pro Tip: Sunbeds can cause your skin to go a little red and you will need to leave time for it to cool down. If you are going to use spray or self tanning products, you may want to top-up if you prefer a darker richer tan.

Also, remember tanning can go wrong, allowing a few days before your day gives you time to remove it.

Do Research to Find a Makeup Artist Perfect for You

The most reliable way to find your perfect make-up artist is word of mouth and recommendations.

If you have fallen in love with a bride’s makeup before. Or, your friends and family have recommended someone for you to use. It can put you at ease to get in touch and discuss your bridal makeup.

Also, most makeup artists will have a website. You should look through their galleries to see what makeup styles they have produced. And, be sure to check out their reviews, you should always be asking questions like:

  • Can I tell that this makeup artist is reliable?
  • What experience in bridal make-up does this artist have?
  • How does she keep up-to-date with trends?
  • What regular training does she get?
  • What do her clients say about her?
  • How often does she update her portfolio, reviews, and website?

All these questions will build a picture about the abilities of your chosen makeup artist.

There are lots of makeup artists listed on directories such as Gumtree, and Yell . And, they also give you local recommendations which are useful.

Also, be sure to check your favourite blogs, search on Google, or across Social Media such as Facebook and Instragram.

For example, here are my Facebook and Instagram profiles.

Go Online to Find Your Makeup Inspiration

You can find inspiration from Pinterest, Instagram, your favourite blogs, bridal magazines and much more.

If you have an idea in mind for your bridal makeup, it can help your artist choose the right products for you. There are loads of places you can find inspiration, and each will have their own unique twist.

Pro Tip: remember to take into account the advice from your makeup artist. They will tell you what will enhance your features and look most flattering on you.

A good makeup artist should enhance your natural beauty and not mask it.

Also when searching for make-up inspiration, you should take into account that you want your make-up to look timeless. You want to look back on photographs in 50 years time and still love your makeup and it wasn’t just reflecting trends of that era.

Enhance Your Eyes with Lashes

I always recommend wearing lashes for your wedding day because it enhances your eyes and eye makeup in photographs.

You don’t need to wear really dramatic lashes, individual lashes are natural and add thickness.

Also, strip lashes with an invisible band are really comfortable to wear.

My favourite lash brands are Eldora , Ardell, MAC and Velour.

Pro Tip: if you are completely new to lashes I would wear them a few times before your wedding day to get used to them.
