Hey guys, thanks for coming back to my blog! I hope you have been enjoying my latest blog articles.

In today’s article,  I will be continuing my Wedding Skincare Essentials with my 4 Step Evening Skincare Routine.

P.s. go check out my Wedding Skincare Essentials: Morning Skincare Routine for my top tips on how to get a flawless look to your skin for your wedding.

4 Step Evening Skincare Routine

Your evening skincare routine is super important because while you’re sleeping your body will be repairing your cells. I have put together 4 steps for you to get your skin looking its best.

  • Cleanse Your Skin with an Oil or Balm Cleanser

  • Apply a Toner to Prepare Your Skin for Serum and Moisturiser

  • Use a Serum to Hydrate Your Deeper Skin Layers

  • Finish with Moisturiser for Extra Hydration

Cleanse Your Skin with an Oil or Balm Cleanser

The first step to your evening skincare routine is to remove your makeup and dirt that has built up throughout the day. I like to use an oil or balm cleanser for this because it breaks down your makeup, making it easier to remove.

Pro Tip : going to sleep with your makeup on will clog up your pores which will stretch them making them more visible. It will also cause you to produce more sebum which can result in acne and overtime can age your skin.

I don’t like to use expensive cleansers to remove my makeup, I like to save my expensive cleansers for the second cleanse where your skin will get the most benefit.

Some of my favourite cleansers for removing makeup are:

  • L’Oreal Paris Extraordinary Cleansing Oil – this cleanser is perfect for removing makeup, you can see your makeup melting off your face. It is lightweight, non-greasy and doesn’t leave your skin feeling tight. Apply this cleanser onto dry skin and remove with warm water which will turn the oil into a milk.

  • Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm – I love this cleanser because it’s thicker than an oil and it removes mascara a lot easier. It’s great for sensitive skin because there isn’t any fragrance which can cause irritation. It is a simple no faff cleanser.

After you have removed your makeup, I like to go in with a second cleanse. This cleanse is for your skin and pores making sure there are no makeup traces left. This is when I like to use my more expensive treatment cleansers so that my skin can feel the benefits.

Your second cleanse will also help your other skincare products sink better into the skin. If I have more time in the evening, I like to spend a bit of time massaging the cleanser into my skin doing a mini-facial or if I’m having a bath, I will leave this cleanser on my skin as a mask.

The cleansing products I use are:

  • Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm – it is expensive for a cleanser but my god is it worth the money! It is super luxury and feels like a spa experience. It is packed full of amazing oils and ingredients which do fab things to your skin. My skin looks plump and dewy after using this, perfect when my skin is looking dull and needs a pick me up.

Apply a Toner to Prepare Your Skin for Serum

I like to use 2 toners in order to prep my skin for serum and moisturisers.

The first toner I will use is a mild exfoliating toner that will help lift dead skin and help brighten up a dull complexion. It is going to improve the texture of your skin and allow products to sink in better. Make sure you are applying a SPF when using acid toners to protect the new surface skin layer.

The one I use day and night are:

  • Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads– these ones are gentle enough to use every day. I love that each pad has a generous amount of product on them and one pad will be enough to use on the entire face. The exfoliating acid in this is glycolic acid, which helps to resurface skin texture. Other ingredients such as hyaluronic acid will moisturise the skin making it look smoother and brighter.

After acid toning I will then use a hydrating mist to drench my skin in moisture. This will help neutralise the acid toner and your serum will glide on easier.

Two of my favourites are:

  • La Roche-Posey Serozinc Spray– this one is particularly good if you suffer with oily and blemish prone skin because it will help to disinfect the skin as well as pat down oil.

  • MAC Mineralize Charged Water Skin Hydrating Mist– if your skin is dry or dehydrated this one will be good for you. It is packed with hydrating minerals and diamond powder. The diamond powder is like a magnet drawing moisture onto the skin that lasts all day.

Use a Serum to Hydrate Your Deeper Skin Layers

In the evening, I like to use a serum targeted at my skin concerns. My skin is dehydrated and blemish-prone so I like to use a serum that helps with that. I have mentioned before in my morning skincare routine that serums are a thinner formula and go deeper into the layers of skin than a moisturiser.

The serums, I recommend are:

  • Sarah Chapman Skinesis Overnight Facial – this stuff is like a good night’s sleep in a bottle. It makes your skin feel super plump and looks radiant. The serum also helps boost collagen production which will help fight the signs of aging.

Finish with Moisturiser for Extra Hydration

Although a serum may sink deeper into your skin, the formula is lightweight and not rich enough to hydrate the surface layer. I like to use a richer cream in the evening and leave it to sink into my skin as I sleep. I recommend you still moisturise even if you have oily skin because this will help balance out the natural oils you produce but use one that is oil free and not too heavy.

  • Estee Lauder Nightwear Plus Detox Creme – I am currently using this cream every evening and I have noticed a massive difference in the texture of my skin, it looks smoother and my pores are less visible. I really like how this moisturiser feels hydrating but doesn’t feel thick and greasy.

  • Origins Make a Difference Overnight Hydrating Repair Creme – my dehydrated skin loves this cream! The main ingredient in this cream is Rose of Jericho which helps replenish moisture giving your skin a boost of hydration because as we sleep we tend to lose moisture. This cream gives a protective layer of moisture.

That is all for this blog post, I hope you are enjoying this skincare series. My next blog will cover masks and treatments for your skin that will give your skin that extra kick for your special day.
